NEAR Food Shelf is a non-profit
organization located in Crystal. Our programs address food
insecurity, along with seasonal programs such as providing
Back-To-School backpacks and supplies, holiday toys and
gifts, and other events. In collaboration with local faith
partners, nonprofits, businesses, schools, and civic
organizations, NEAR is committed to maintaining a culture
where everyone is treated with respect. Our goal is to
provide food and referrals to other community resources. We
are a busy and diverse operation with high expectations for
staff and the overall impact of programs.
The Program Coordinator greets
volunteers, donors, and program clients daily, demonstrating
NEAR’s commitment to high-quality customer service. Along
with other team members, the Program Coordinator maintains a
safe, organized, and efficient warehouse and food
distribution area. NEAR staff are cross-trained and actively
help across programs and departments.
We are seeking a strong leader
to oversee food shelf client operations, work well with
other staff members and support overall agency success.
Key Responsibilities:

Maintain clear and
accurate files of all clients and volunteers
·
Implement and support
daily and seasonal programs
·
Maintain a clean, safe,
risk-free physical environment; report needs to appropriate
staff
·
Load and unload pallets,
boxes, and bags received from donors and vendors
·
Attend meetings with
staff and volunteers
·
Manage afternoon
volunteers and food distribution to clients
·
When receiving incoming
food donations, determine what is acceptable and follow food
handling procedures
·
When distributing food to
clients, assist volunteers in determining what is acceptable
and follow food handling procedures
·
Coordinate volunteer
drivers and packing of food for home deliveries to
preapproved clients
·
Enter new client
information and updates into the PantrySaver computer
program
·
Develop, execute, and
manage new processes
·
Provide backup coverage
for other staff members and volunteers
·
Maintain and support
current base of phone and afternoon volunteers
·
Supervise volunteer
intake of new client information and food distribution
·
Coordinate, schedule,
train and supervise volunteers to support daily operations
·
Report to and take work
direction from the Food Shelf Director
·
Work alongside a wide
variety of volunteers giving them direction and feedback for
optimum teamwork
·
Other duties as assigned
Position Qualifications:
·
Supervisory experience
·
Bilingual speakers;
English required, Spanish is beneficial
·
Ability to problem solve
and work in a professional and positive manner with high
attention to detail in a variety of situations
·
Excellent interpersonal
and communications skills, must have ability to work as a
member of the team and partner collaboratively with
employees, food rescue partners and volunteers
·
Must be able to handle
the physical and emotional aspect of work in a social
service environment
·
Ability to thrive in
high-energy settings that call for flexibility and
on-your-feet problem solving
·
Person of high integrity
who can successfully communicate and receive ideas,
questions, and challenges in a team-based work environment

lbs. regularly

Availability to work
during operational hours, Monday through Friday, (8:30am –
5pm), and occasional evenings and weekends
Salary and Benefits:
Terms: Full-time,
Starting Salary $39-42,000/year (depending on
qualifications)
Paid Time Off: Two weeks
(80 hours)

Reimbursement: $250/month (after completion of first full
calendar month)
